Am I correct to understand your application crashes once you applied ProGuard? If so, can you post your de-obfuscated stack trace, please?
Applying obfuscation to a project can introduce issues where the project relies on reflection, the ProGuard manual documents common issues together with steps to debug these issues. Please have a look here.
